Botulinum Toxin Treatments

Botulinum toxin is one of the most widely used treatments in medical aesthetics. However, a well-planned treatment is not intended to make the face completely motionless.

While the aim is to soften the appearance of expression lines that become more noticeable over time—particularly in areas such as the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes—it is equally important to preserve the patient’s natural facial expressions and movement.

Treatments

Forehead Botox

Horizontal forehead lines can become more prominent over time as a result of repeated movement of the frontalis muscle, which raises the eyebrows.

Botulinum toxin can be used to reduce the activity of this muscle in a controlled manner, helping to soften the appearance of these lines.

Will my eyebrows droop?

Careful patient assessment and individualised dosing are important. In people who habitually raise their eyebrows to open their eyes, the position of both the forehead and eyebrows should be evaluated together before treatment.

Will my forehead become completely frozen?

The aim is not necessarily to eliminate all movement. The dose and injection points can be planned to preserve natural facial expression as much as possible.

Frown Lines – Glabellar Botox

Vertical lines between the eyebrows can sometimes create an unintentionally angry, tense or tired appearance. Reducing the activity of the muscles in this area can help soften the appearance of these lines.

Will deep frown lines disappear completely?

If the lines appear only during facial expression, a more noticeable improvement may be expected. If the lines are already visible at rest, botulinum toxin may soften them but may not eliminate them completely.

Crow’s Feet – Eye Area Botox

The lines that appear at the outer corners of the eyes when smiling can gradually become visible even when the face is at rest. Botulinum toxin can be used to reduce muscle activity around the eyes in a controlled way, helping to create a more rested appearance.

Will my smile change?

Treatment should be planned according to the individual anatomy of the eyes and smile. The aim is to soften the lines while preserving a natural smile.

Brow Lift – Brow Shaping with Botox

By assessing the balance of the muscles around the eyebrows, botulinum toxin may be used in suitable patients to achieve a subtle elevation, particularly of the outer part of the brow.

How much can Botox lift my eyebrows?

Botox is not an alternative to a surgical brow lift. Any lifting effect is generally subtle and natural, and the degree of change varies according to the individual’s anatomy.

Nose Botox – Bunny Lines

Fine lines that appear on either side of the bridge of the nose when smiling or making facial expressions are commonly known as “bunny lines”. In suitable patients, botulinum toxin can be used to reduce the activity of the muscles responsible for these lines.

Will it change the shape of my nose?

The main purpose of bunny line treatment is not to change the shape of the nose, but to reduce the appearance of expression-related lines.

Nasal Tip Botox

In some people, the muscle that pulls the tip of the nose downward becomes particularly active when smiling. In suitable patients, botulinum toxin can be applied to this muscle to reduce the downward movement of the nasal tip during smiling.

Will it lift the tip of my nose?

Any lifting effect is limited. This treatment does not reshape the nose in the way that dermal fillers or surgical rhinoplasty can.

Gummy Smile Botox

In some people, the upper lip rises excessively when smiling, making the gums appear more prominent. Botulinum toxin may be used in suitable patients to reduce this excessive upward movement.

Will my smile look unnatural?

The dose should be tailored to the individual’s smile dynamics. The aim is not to restrict the smile, but to reduce excessive elevation of the upper lip.

Chin Botox

Overactivity of the chin muscle can create a dimpled or “orange-peel” appearance in some patients. Reducing muscle activity with botulinum toxin may help create a smoother appearance.

Will it change the shape of my chin?

The purpose of the treatment is not to add volume to the chin, but to reduce irregularities caused by muscle activity. Structural chin retrusion or lack of volume requires a different assessment and treatment approach.

Downturned Mouth Corners – DAO Botox

In some people, strong activity of the muscles that pull the corners of the mouth downward can make the face appear sad or tired even at rest. In suitable patients, low doses of botulinum toxin may be used to reduce the activity of these muscles.

Masseter Botox – Jaw Clenching

Overactivity of the masseter muscles can be associated with jaw clenching and may also cause the lower face to appear wider over time. In suitable patients, botulinum toxin can be used to reduce masseter muscle activity.

Can it make the face look slimmer?

In patients with significantly enlarged masseter muscles, treatment may contribute to a slimmer appearance of the lower face over time.

Will it completely stop jaw clenching?

It may help reduce symptoms, but it should not be considered a treatment that eliminates the underlying cause of bruxism. A dental assessment may also be recommended when appropriate.

Neck Botox – Platysma Bands

Prominent vertical platysma bands in the neck, as well as downward-pulling muscle activity affecting the lower face, may be reduced with botulinum toxin in suitable patients.

Will it tighten my neck?

Botulinum toxin is not a surgical lifting procedure. Its purpose is to reduce the appearance of bands and downward pull caused by muscle activity.

Nefertiti Lift

Botulinum toxin can be applied to selected areas of the platysma along the jawline and neck to reduce downward muscle pull and help enhance the definition of the jawline.

Will it eliminate jowls?

Botulinum toxin alone cannot correct significant skin laxity or tissue sagging. Depending on the patient’s needs, treatments such as HIFU, radiofrequency, biostimulators or other procedures may also be considered.

Medical Uses of Botulinum Toxin

Excessive Sweating – Underarms, Hands and Feet

Botulinum toxin may be used to help manage excessive sweating by temporarily reducing the nerve signals that stimulate the sweat glands.

Will sweating stop completely?

The degree of improvement varies from person to person and the effect is temporary. Before treatment, it may also be necessary to assess whether there are any underlying conditions contributing to excessive sweating.

When Does Botox Start to Work?

The effects usually begin to develop within the first few days and can be assessed more clearly after approximately 10–14 days. The onset and degree of effect may vary from person to person.

How Long Does Botox Last?

The effects are temporary. The duration can vary depending on the treatment area, the dose used, muscle strength and individual characteristics. On average, the effect lasts around four months.

Can I Return to My Daily Routine After Botox?

Most people can return to their normal daily activities after treatment. Temporary redness, tenderness, small bumps or bruising may occur at the injection sites.

Is Botox Suitable for Everyone?

No. Factors such as pregnancy and breastfeeding, certain neuromuscular conditions, current medications and the patient’s general health should be evaluated before treatment.

“Will People Be Able to Tell I’ve Had Botox?”

With a carefully planned treatment, the aim is not to create a frozen or expressionless face.

The focus is not simply on treating wrinkles in isolation, but on treating the individual. For this reason, injection points and doses should not follow a standard template; they should be tailored to each person’s facial anatomy, muscle activity and natural expressions.
